Electric vehicles

By 2028, we believe that 1.5million electric vehicles will be based in our region. Electrification of transport is seen as key to the country achieving target of becoming net zero by 2050. The ban of sales of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030 means that the way we travel and commute will change, and demand on electricity will grow as a result.

We are determined and confident of creating a network capable of meeting the needs for the future, allowing for the anticipated influx of electric vehicle chargers at home and at service stations. That’s why we’ve made a commitment to make it as easy as possible for customers to connect low carbon technologies, ensuring WPD is able to connect up to 1.5 million electric vehicles by 2028.
